Today, we remember State Constable Robert Lee Bailey and Greenville County Magistrate William Jerry Cox.

On this date in 2007, State Constable Robert Bailey was shot and killed as he conducted a vehicle stop on Greenwood Street in Lincolnville.

On this date in 1904, Magistrate William Jerry Cox, 35, of Austin Township in Mauldin, was shot and killed by bootleggers.

SC Fallen Officers – March 30

Today, we remember Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Willie James Blakely, South Carolina State Dispensary Commission Constable James Rollin Cooler, and South Carolina State Dispensary Constable Robert Hayne Pepper.

On this date in 1980, Deputy Blakely was struck and killed by a vehicle while directing traffic at the scene of a previous accident.

On this date in 1913, Dispensary Constable Rollin Cooler was shot from ambush and fatally wounded while raiding five blind tigers on St. Helena Island in Beaufort County.

On this date in 1894, Dispensary Constable R. H. Pepper was shot and killed during an anti-Dispensary riot at the railroad depot in Darlington.

SC Fallen Officers – January 31

Today, we remember South Carolina State Constable James Holland “Hol” Howard.

On this date in 1924, State Constable Hol Howard was shot and killed while raiding an illicit still on Hogback Mountain in Greenville County with a federal prohibition agent. As the two approached the still, two suspects opened fire, shooting Constable Howard five times.

Today, we remember South Carolina State Constable J. C. Holstein.

On this date in 1906, Constable Holstein was shot and killed while assisting the McCormick Town Marshal in arresting an individual for a disturbance.
