SCFOP PARTICIPATION
The Voice of Law Enforcement
At the invitation of Jenny Costa Honeycutt’s campaign, SCFOP State President John Blackmon addressed rally attendees about the importance of electing officials who support law enforcement and recognized the organization’s three endorsed candidates.
For the SCFOP, participation in the political process extends beyond individual elections. The organization maintains an active presence in Columbia and Washington, D.C., advocating for legislation and policies that affect officers throughout their careers and into retirement.
Among its continuing priorities are improving officer safety, protecting retirement benefits, strengthening legal protections, and addressing the recruitment and retention challenges facing law enforcement agencies.
These issues require productive relationships with elected officials who are willing to listen to the experiences of officers and understand how legislative decisions affect their ability to serve their communities.
The invitation to address Saturday’s rally provided another opportunity for the SCFOP to communicate that perspective while publicly recognizing candidates who have earned the organization’s support.
National Leadership at the Rally

The rally brought together candidates seeking federal and statewide offices alongside established political leaders during the final days of the campaign.
State and Local Leaders in Attendance
Other participants included Mike Reichenbach, a candidate for Lieutenant Governor; Cody Simpson, a candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture; and South Carolina Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver. Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis and State Representative Harriet Holman were also in attendance, adding local law enforcement and legislative representation to the gathering.

For the SCFOP, the event provided an opportunity to participate in a broader political discussion while maintaining its focus on the issues affecting South Carolina’s law enforcement community.
The Final Days Before Election Day
The organization’s involvement reflects its continuing efforts to ensure that officers have a voice in decisions made at every level of government.
