A Member-Driven Endorsement Process
The South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police’s endorsement process provides members throughout the state with an opportunity to participate in decisions concerning the organization’s political endorsements.
Members communicate their preferences through their local lodges. Each of the organization’s 19 local lodges is represented by a Trustee who participates in the State Lodge’s Board of Directors endorsement process.
A candidate must receive support from at least two-thirds of the local lodges to receive an endorsement. All eight endorsed candidates met this requirement.
This process ensures that endorsement decisions reflect the participation of members across South Carolina rather than the decision of any single officer or individual.
Continuing the Work Beyond Election Day
The South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police advocates for policies affecting officer safety, retirement benefits, legal protections, working conditions, and public safety.
The organization works with elected officials at both the state and federal levels to communicate the experiences and concerns of law enforcement officers and their families.
With the November 3 general election approaching, the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police encourages all eligible voters to participate in the process and make informed decisions about the candidates and issues on their ballots.
The organization’s advocacy and legislative engagement will continue after the election as it works to improve the lives of those who carried the badge yesterday, who carry the badge today, and who will carry the badge tomorrow.
