The South Carolina State Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police, the state chapter of the nation’s largest law enforcement organization, today announced its endorsement of Congressman Russell Fry for reelection to the United States House of Representatives in South Carolina’s 7th Congressional District.

The endorsement follows the organization’s 2026 congressional endorsement process, which included a detailed candidate questionnaire addressing federal legislation, officer protections, public safety, and issues affecting law enforcement officers and their families.

The endorsement reflects the vote of South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police members across the state. The organization’s endorsement process gives every member an opportunity, through one of its 19 local lodges, to make their choice known to their lodge Trustee. Informed by the membership of their lodge, each Trustee casts a vote at the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police Board of Directors meeting. A candidate must receive the support of at least two-thirds of the local lodges to earn the organization’s endorsement. Fry easily cleared that threshold.

Fry has represented South Carolina’s 7th Congressional District since 2023. During the endorsement process, he outlined his record and positions on federal legislation affecting law enforcement and committed to maintaining direct communication with South Carolina law enforcement leaders.

“Russell Fry has demonstrated that he understands an important part of representing South Carolina in Washington: listen to the men and women who actually enforce our laws,” South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police President John Blackmon said. “Congress makes decisions that directly affect officer safety, resources, criminal justice policy, and the ability of law enforcement officers to do their jobs. We need members of Congress who will keep that reality at the forefront of those decisions.”

Fry is a cosponsor of the Protect and Serve Act, federal legislation supported by the Fraternal Order of Police that would establish federal penalties in certain circumstances for deliberately targeting law enforcement officers with violence. During the endorsement process, Fry committed to supporting the legislation again in the next Congress if necessary.

Fry also told the organization that he considers consultation with law enforcement essential when Congress considers public safety policy. He committed to maintaining communication with the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police and described the organization as a partner in helping lawmakers understand the practical effects of policy decisions on officers.

The South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police urges its members, law enforcement families, and voters throughout the 7th Congressional District to support Russell Fry in the November general election.
