The South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police Board of Directors will meet on Saturday, June 20, to review the progress of the organization, discuss key initiatives, and establish priorities for the months ahead. The Board of Directors consists of the Executive Board and one trustee from each of the 19 local lodges across South Carolina.
One of the strengths of the Fraternal Order of Police is its bottom-up structure. The organization is built upon local lodges that represent the interests and concerns of members in their communities. Those perspectives are brought forward through lodge trustees and officers, allowing local input to help shape the direction of the State Lodge. In turn, state lodges work together through the National Fraternal Order of Police to advocate for law enforcement officers across the country.
The June meeting will provide an opportunity for officers, committees, and local lodges to report on their activities and discuss the progress being made toward the organization’s strategic goals. Recruitment remains a priority as the South Carolina FOP continues working to expand its membership and strengthen its voice on behalf of law enforcement professionals.
Board members will receive updates on legislative issues, training initiatives, membership development, fundraising efforts, and the continued implementation of the South Carolina FOP Foundation. The Board will also discuss preparations for the 2027 legislative session and review ongoing advocacy efforts, including legislation affecting the safety and protection of law enforcement officers. The recent passage of K-9 Protection legislation and continued efforts surrounding HALO legislation demonstrate the importance of maintaining a strong presence in the legislative process.
Training and leadership development will remain important topics of discussion. The South Carolina FOP Leadership Training Series continues to provide resources for current and future lodge leaders, while planning continues for Critical Incident Seminars scheduled for the fall. These programs are designed to strengthen local lodges and provide practical tools for those serving in leadership positions.
The Board will also review a proposed bylaw amendment and consider future endorsement plans following the completion of upcoming election runoffs. Additional discussions will focus on fundraising initiatives, membership outreach, and opportunities to further support local lodges throughout the state.
The work conducted during Board meetings helps ensure that the South Carolina FOP remains focused on its mission of improving the lives of those who carried the badge yesterday, who carry the badge today, and who will carry the badge tomorrow.
