SC Fallen Officers – May 9

May 9, 2025

May 9

Today, we remember Chester County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff William C. Doster and Lieutenant James Brice Waters, and Chester Police Department, Chester, SC Police Officer W. A. R. Wilson.

On this date in 1970, Deputy William Doster and Lieutenant James Waters were shot and killed while serving a warrant to a local farmer. Deputy Doster had only served with the agency for 2 weeks. He was survived by his daughter. Lieutenant Waters had served with the agency for 20 years.

On this date in 1891, Police Officer W.A.R. Wilson was shot and killed by a subject who was seeking revenge over an arrest he had made the previous day. Officer Wilson was a Confederate Army veteran and had served with the Chester Police Department for only six months.
