On this date in 1983, Police Officer Harold Cousar was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by another vehicle while en route to an accident. It is believed the other driver was intoxicated. Officer Cousar had previously served in the United States Army and is survived by his wife, two children, mother, and father.
On this date in 1941, Patrolman John McCord was shot five times at close range while investigating a suspicious person. Patrolman McCord had served with the Greenwood Police Department for 13 years.
