On this date in 1908, Police Officer William Clyde was shot and killed in the area of Bradford Springs while attempting to arrest a fugitive who had escaped from a chain gang two months earlier.
On this date in 2011, Corporal Chuck Nesbitt was killed in an automobile accident on Highway 521 near Rembert at approximately 3:00 pm.
