Empowering Law Enforcement Through Training

A Strategic Investment in Officer Readiness

The South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police is committed to ensuring that law enforcement professionals are fully equipped—mentally, physically, and operationally—to meet the demands of today’s policing environment. Our training initiatives reflect that commitment. Built on experience, designed for impact, and delivered across the state, SCFOP training helps officers and lodge leaders operate with confidence, protect themselves and their agencies, and strengthen the profession from within.

As part of our broader mission to empower, unite, and defend South Carolina’s law enforcement community, we are working alongside the National Fraternal Order of Police and other national partners to deliver relevant, high-caliber instruction where it is needed most.

Training with Purpose

SCFOP’s training is not generic instruction—it is deliberate, officer-centered development. Every session is built to address the real-world scenarios officers face on the street, in the courtroom, and within their departments. Whether navigating a critical incident or leading a local lodge, knowledge is a force multiplier—and preparation is protection.

Instruction That Strengthens the Profession

Current training topics include:

  • Leadership development rooted in peer-based trust and organizational growth
  • Responding to and recovering from critical incidents
  • Officer wellness and peer support strategies
  • Active threat and tactical response
  • Gang activity awareness and intervention
  • Investigative interviewing and interrogation
  • Traffic enforcement and roadside safety procedures

All training is conducted in person and offered free of charge to SCFOP members.

Developing Both the Officer and the Organization

We believe that advancing the profession means more than training officers for the next call—it means preparing FOP leaders to meet the broader challenges of advocacy, membership engagement, and organizational strength. Our training also empowers local lodge leaders to build sustainable, mission-driven lodges that serve their members with integrity and impact.

Building Competence, Confidence, and Credibility

Well-trained officers are better protected. They’re more resilient under pressure, more effective in the field, and less vulnerable to risk. Our training efforts support agency integrity, reduce liability, and prepare law enforcement professionals to uphold the law—and their oath—with clarity and confidence.

Continued Growth, Long-Term Commitment

This is only the beginning. SCFOP is expanding its training footprint across South Carolina. New courses are in development, more partnerships are being built, and future offerings will continue to reflect the evolving realities of law enforcement. Virtual delivery options are also being evaluated to increase accessibility and reach.
