Olanta Police Department

SC Fallen Officers – April 27

April 27, 2025 by John Blackmon

Today, we remember Olanta Chief of Police Robert F. Sexton.

On this date in 1976, Chief Sexton was shot and killed by one of his officers, who was corrupt. The officer was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 2 years in prison. He served less than a year. In 2004, he was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for drug and gun crimes. Chief Sexton was survived by his two-month-old daughter and mother.
