Recruitment Training

Recruitment is the foundation of every strong lodge. The future of the Fraternal Order of Police in South Carolina depends on leaders who know how to grow membership, explain the value of joining, and build lasting connections with officers across the state. This training is designed specifically for current lodge leaders and those preparing to step into leadership roles.

Participants will learn to engage prospective members, communicate the unique advantages of the FOP, and strengthen their lodge through steady, effective recruitment. By mastering these skills, leaders ensure that their lodge has the numbers, resources, and voice needed to serve both its members and the law enforcement profession.

A successful recruiter must be able to clearly and confidently explain the benefits of FOP membership. The most powerful tool is the Legal Defense Plan, but leaders should also highlight the full range of services and protections the FOP provides:

  • Legal Defense coverage that protects officers in critical moments
  • Advocacy at the Statehouse and in Washington, D.C.
  • Retirement and benefit protections for officers and their families
  • Training and professional development opportunities
  • Fellowship, support, and networking with fellow officers

Recruitment is not just about adding names to a roster. It is about building a stronger FOP that can better defend officers, advocate for the profession, and improve the lives of those who serve.

Our Recruitment Training online video series is available in the Members Only section of the SCFOP website, providing lodge leaders with on-demand access to proven recruitment strategies and guidance.

If your lodge has a group of members and a venue, we will come to you and conduct in-person recruitment training. These sessions are designed to strengthen your lodge’s leadership, sharpen recruiting conversations, and build long-term membership growth. Reach out to Second Vice President Jason Fernandes to coordinate an in-person training opportunity.
