Recognizing Leadership in Public Safety
Each year, the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police honors a member of the General Assembly whose actions have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the men and women who serve in law enforcement. The Legislator of the Year Award reflects the belief that effective laws, strong public safety policies, and support for officers directly contribute to safer communities across our state.
This recognition is not given lightly. It is reserved for legislators who have consistently advanced the cause of justice, defended the rights and safety of law enforcement officers, and worked to ensure that agencies have the resources they need to protect the public. The award highlights the essential partnership between policymakers and law enforcement professionals—a partnership built on shared responsibility and mutual respect.
