Honoring 20 Years of Remembrance at the Statehouse

January 24, 2026

In 2026, South Carolina marks a significant milestone. It has been 20 years since the South Carolina Law Enforcement Memorial was dedicated on the Statehouse grounds, a permanent place of honor for officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our state.

To recognize this anniversary, the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police has commissioned a 20th Anniversary South Carolina Law Enforcement Memorial Challenge Coin. This coin was designed with purpose and meaning, reflecting remembrance, valor, and respect for those we have lost and for the families they left behind.

20th Anniversary South Carolina Law Enforcement Memorial Challenge Coin

The front of the coin features a bold “20” design incorporating imagery from the Law Enforcement Memorial itself. The memorial statue stands at the center, framed by the words “20 Years of Honoring the Fallen” and “South Carolina FOP 2005–2025,” marking the legacy of remembrance that began with the memorial’s dedication. Alongside it, the Fraternal Order of Police emblem is prominently displayed, encircled by the words “Blessed Are the Peacemakers,” a reminder of the calling and sacrifice of the law enforcement profession.

The reverse side of the coin continues that story. The South Carolina Statehouse stands at the center, set against a detailed outline of the state. A palmetto tree and fallen officer symbols serve as a solemn tribute, while the phrase “In Valor There Is Remembrance” reinforces the enduring responsibility to honor those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

This challenge coin is more than a commemorative item. It is a symbol of gratitude, reflection, and respect. It represents the commitment of South Carolina’s law enforcement community to never forget those who paid the highest price and to continue supporting their families and fellow officers.

The 20th Anniversary Memorial Challenge Coin is available through local Fraternal Order of Police lodges across South Carolina.

By carrying this coin, we carry the memory of those we honor and the responsibility to stand for them every day.
