FOP Stands with Charleston Aviation Authority Police

November 4, 2025

The South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police stands firmly with the Charleston County Aviation Authority police officers who were subjected to inappropriate and profane conduct by Rep. Nancy Mace. Regardless of any miscommunication, no law enforcement officer should be met with hostility, public ridicule, or profanity while performing their duties.

Whether they’re escorting officials or answering calls in the community, officers deserve basic respect and professionalism. If an elected official has concerns about procedure or security, those concerns should be addressed through the proper channels, such as command staff or airport leadership. Directing anger at the officers on the ground does nothing to resolve issues. It only undermines morale and creates an unnecessary public spectacle.

The SCFOP represents law enforcement officers across this state, and we take seriously our responsibility to defend their integrity, professionalism, and service. Disagreement is part of public life. Disrespect and verbal abuse toward those who protect and serve is not.
