SC Fallen Officers – April 29

April 29, 2025

Today, we remember Anderson County Sheriff’s Office SC Deputy Sheriff James Edward Tillotson and Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff Theodore Turner.

On this date in 1957, Deputy Ed Tillotson was shot and killed when he and another deputy attempted to question a suspect about a theft. Deputy Tillotson had served with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and served in law enforcement for at least 12 years. He was survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.

On this date in 1971, Deputy Theodore Turner was shot and killed while he and another deputy served commitment papers on a mental subject. Deputy Turner was survived by his wife and two children.
