Be a Part of the 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run

April 8, 2025

Join the Final Leg of the 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run
Support Special Olympics South Carolina

South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

Each year, law enforcement officers from across South Carolina come together for one powerful purpose: to carry the Flame of Hope and raise awareness for the athletes of Special Olympics South Carolina. This spring, you are invited to be part of this proud tradition by joining the 2025 Summer Final Leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR).

Whether you are a sworn officer, a supporter of Special Olympics, or a proud member of our community, your participation helps shine a light on inclusion, determination, and unity.

Two Opportunities to Run with the Torch

This year’s Final Leg takes place on Friday, May 9th, 2025, and includes two meaningful segments—each offering an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity with the athletes of Special Olympics South Carolina.

Columbia Torch Run: Main Street to the State House
LETR Officers will gather near the intersection of River Drive and North Main Street, escorting the torch to the South Carolina State House. The torch is expected to arrive just before 5:00 PM. Parking will be available at the State House, with bus transportation provided to the starting point.
A short media event will follow at the State House to recognize the runners and raise public awareness.

Fort Jackson Torch Run: Final Leg to Opening Ceremonies
Later that day, LETR Officers will complete the ceremonial Final Leg to the Solomon Center at Fort Jackson, where they will open the Special Olympics South Carolina State Summer Games.
Participants should enter through the Forest Drive gate and park at the Solomon Center. Bus transportation will be provided to the traffic circle on post to complete the run and light the cauldron during Opening Ceremonies.

How to Participate

To join either or both segments of the Final Leg, purchase a SCLETR T-shirt for $20. This contribution helps support the mission of LETR and ensures every participant is part of a unified team.

A Tradition of Service and Solidarity

The Law Enforcement Torch Run represents more than a ceremonial event. It’s a visible show of support from law enforcement for those who overcome challenges every day. Every officer who joins the run stands shoulder to shoulder with the athletes of Special Olympics—supporting their goals, honoring their determination, and reminding our communities of the values we share.

Participation is open to all law enforcement officers, agency partners, and supporters who believe in inclusion, commitment, and community.

Together, we carry more than a torch—we carry hope.
